Bioptická laboratoř Ltd., founded in 1993, is the largest cytology and histopathology laboratory in the Czech Republic and one of the largest histopathology laboratories in Europe. The laboratory delivers highly specialized diagnostic services in cytology, histopathology, and molecular pathology for both domestic and international partners.
Each year, the laboratory processes nearly 1,000,000 cytology examinations and approximately 200,000 biopsy specimens, placing Bioptická laboratoř among Europe’s largest and highest‑volume histopathology laboratories. A substantial proportion of diagnostic cases is assessed by pathologists supported by advanced artificial intelligence tools, improving diagnostic accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
Bioptická laboratoř also operates the largest genetics department in the Czech Republic dedicated to oncological diagnostics, performing more than 60,000 genetic and molecular pathology tests annually, including predictive oncology analyses.
The laboratory provides services to outpatient specialists and hospital departments across a wide range of medical disciplines, including surgery, dermatology, gastroenterology, ENT, gynecology, and others. Comprehensive diagnostic services are also offered to international clients, including outsourcing of selected laboratory process steps with subsequent secure digital slide sharing.
Bioptická laboratoř is accredited by the Czech Accreditation Institute in accordance with ISO 15189 and holds accreditation from the Czech Ministry of Health for cervical cancer screening. The Association of Health Insurance Companies has designated the laboratory as one of six national centers participating in the Czech predictive oncology program.
Each year, Bioptická laboratoř contributes to dozens of prestigious international research projects. Its team includes internationally recognized experts who actively participate in the development of the World Health Organization (WHO) tumor classifications.
